Sales Associate

Job Summary:

The Thrift Store Cashier/Production Worker works under the direct supervision of the Thrift Store Manager. This individual must be a born-again Christian of proven testimony and evidence of spiritual growth including: leadership, discipleship, maturity, discernment, patience, objectivity, and stewardship effectiveness. This person must be able to share his or her testimony with program clients. This individual will operate a cash register to record all transactions accurately and efficiently. Excellent customer service being critical, this person will assist customers by phone or in person at the cash register. This individual must be able to answer customer's questions concerning location, price, and use of merchandise and be able to follow standard Jericho operating procedures when carrying out position responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

  • At least 6 months of cashier experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • The ability to efficiently operate a cash register.

  • The ability to add, subtract, multiply, or divide quickly and correctly.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Detail oriented and highly observant

  • Ability to actively listen, giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

  • Ability to multi-task

  • Ability to manage in-coming and out-going merchandise and accurately record same.

  • Ability to maximize production while maintaining a clean production area.

  • Excellent customer service at all times

  • The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted.

  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervisory responsibilities include the supervision of volunteers, clients, and community service workers in accordance with Jericho’s policies and procedures, while maintaining appropriate boundaries.  

Physical Demands:

This is a very physical role and requires the employee to regularly lift and maneuver, stand, walk, sit, use hands to manipulate, reach with hands and arms, and to speak and listen.  In this position the employee may also be required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to operate a motorized vehicle; a valid Florida driver license is a necessity.
